What is an Asset?
A general device possessing attributes which are sent to the OCTOBUS Industry IoT platform. For example a motor with attributes rpm, power, vibration.

A measurement describes each attribute that we want to collect to monitor in our OCTOBUS platform.
What is OCTOBUS?
OCTOBUS is a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution running in the cloud, we are portable to most cloud providers and are also available on premise.
Why is there a price difference between Industrial and Commercial?
A commercial sensor provides a limited data stream, such as temperature measurements every 10 minutes, while an industrial machine could generate hundreds of measurements per second.
Why use OCTOBUS?
OCTOBUS is our answer to leverage the Industry 4.0 challenge. OCTOBUS as a Industry IoT Platform is completely industry agnostic.
What is a Device?
A device can be a PLC, a Robot, a WeightScale, a OPC-Server or in general any system that provides information via an interface.
What Devices can I connect?
There are no limits, we currently support four of the most common protocols (MODBUS, ProfiNet, OPC-UA, FINS). Many more protocols are being added all the time and of course we are able to support custom protocols.
What is an OCTOBUS-Client?
It is an application that connects your devices with our OCTOBUS platform and will transfer the data securely into the cloud.
